Live Virtual ASL Baking Class - Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Cookies
On February 8th, 2 - 3:30 pm MST, let's learn how to make Red Velvet Cookies Cookies and some baking signs in ASL! Join us! ASL interpreter provided.
You will have access to New Sass on the Block for two days beginning the morning of February 8th to the evening of the 9th.
If you have gluten or dairy allergies, I've listed alternatives below.
You can turn these in to heart shaped whoopie pies if you'd like using a heart shaped cookie cutter and the ingredients listed below for the cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients you need:
Flour (1:1 Bob's Red Mill, 1:1 Gluten Free King Arthur, Trader Joe's 1:1 Gluten Free)
Baking Soda
Cocoa powder
Salt
One stick of butter/ 1/2 cup (Country Crock Plant Butter, VioLife, Miyoko's, Ghee)
White sugar (Turbinado, Coconut, Sugar in the Raw, Pure Cane Sugar - better alternatives to Refined White Sugar)
1 egg
Vanilla extract
Red food coloring or beet powder (find coloring without Red 3 if possible)
Semi-sweet chocolate chips or white chocolate chips
Tools Needed:
A mixer (you will need to cream the butters and sugar so a mixer will be extremely helpful!)
Cookie Sheets
Parchment Paper or Silicone Mats
Cream Cheese Frosting:
4 oz cream cheese, soft
1/4 cup butter, soft
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups confectioners' sugar
