Jul 14, 2024R is for... one of my all-time favorite desserts! RED VELVET!
Did you know that red velvet isn't a particular taste? It's just the color. All you do is add red food dye to chocolate and voila...red velvet. With that name, it should be a fancy dessert especially because it costs more when buying it. But honestly, it's just hype. It's not THAT special and it's not like it costs more to make.
Granted, Red Velvet cake typically comes with cream cheese frosting and THAT is a tad more expensive than buttercream. Plus, I notice a lot of people go googly-eyed over cream cheese frosting more so than buttercream. They are both pretty easy to make. Now that I am lactose intolerant (UGH I know), both are expensive to make but since I rarely make cream cheese frosting it does make me feel special when I do eat it.
Oftentimes, desserts are more expensive than others because of hype and popularity. Not always because it's more expensive.
