Learn to Communicate with Deaf People Better
May 15, 2024Have a Deaf friend or coworker? Or maybe you would like to know what helps us understand hearing people better? Watch this video!
Three key things to remember:
1) Make your speech clear! Don't mumble or talk at super speed.
2) Avoid noisy/dark areas. Many of us lip read and pick up on body language that helps us fill in gaps - it would help us a lot if we could see you clearly
3) Ask us what will help us understand you better! It never hurts to ask.
Just because you've met one Deaf person, doesn't mean we all are the same. It's important to ask what we need!
