Have you ever had a delicious vanilla or chocolate cake with a thin layer of shiny hard ganache? No? You're missing out, BIG TIME. This isn't a cake you should try to make during the summer only because chocolate doesn't like to set in the heat.
You first have to melt the chocolate from a bunch of chocolate bars either in a microwave or on the stove then add cream to it. Ganache can be tricky so it takes practice to get it looking and tasting right without boiling the milk. But when it's poured over a cake then chilled...OHMYLANTA! That's heaven right there.
