F is for...
Dec 10, 2023F is for FUDGE!
What is your favorite kind of fudge? I am a white chocolate peppermint kind of gal. Though I pretty much like most kinds of fudge, if I am honest. The only kind I am not a fan of is when it has nuts in it or peanut butter.
Growing up, I loved peanut butter. My dad is allergic to nuts with the exception of pistachios. Before the age of 6, I had never eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because my mom was scared I might be allergic too so she never gave me any. One day, she left me home with a babysitter and I guess she didn't tell her not to give me peanut butter. Well, my mom came home to her 6-year-old's face covered in peanut butter and jelly. For days afterward, she asked me constantly, "Are you okay?" "How do you feel?" Nothing ever happened so...I was never allergic.
As I got older though, the smell became something I despised. Maybe I ate too much of it as a kid. I went through a phase of wanting peanut butter and fluff sandwiches and my mom would make me one at least twice a week. Now...I'm still shocked my mom let me eat that. She was a bit of a health nut and didn't even allow us to eat sugary cereals unless we earned them due to good grades.
Looking back, I am glad my sister and I didn't get addicted to sugar as easily as my classmates and friends. Sure, I was jealous when I was younger but honestly, those foods have so many unnecessary ingredients in them.
Anyway, back to fudge, I haven't made it in a while and should probably do that one of these days. Stay tuned for a recipe video making fudge. Wonder what kind I should make...?
